VDI 2230 Systematic Bolt Calculation

This calculator runs the full 14-step chain (R0–R13) of VDI 2230 Part 1:2015 for a single high-strength bolt joint under central clamping and central loading (case V1). In design mode it picks a size from the axial load; in verification mode it checks a size you specify. It supports through-bolt joints (TBJ/DSV) and tapped-hole joints (TTJ/ESV) under axial load F_A, transverse load F_Q and internal pressure.

The chain models the bolt and clamped-part compliance with the pressure-cone (Druckkegel) model, derives the load factor \Phi_n, then sets the assembly preload from the allowable preload F_{Mzul} and the tightening torque M_A. It runs six checks:

  1. assembly stress (F_{Mzul} \geq F_{Mmax}, von Mises)
  2. static strength S_F
  3. fatigue S_D
  4. bearing pressure S_p
  5. thread engagement depth (R11)
  6. slip resistance S_G

Preload loss from embedding f_Z and, optionally, thermal effects are included.

This is a complete calculation per VDI 2230 Part 1:2015 for the central case (V1). Eccentric clamping or loading and external bending moments are outside this scope. Data basis:
